I was asked 4 years ago to paint this portrait. Once I started it, it presented many challenges. Initally I painted the eyes and face, yet as soon as he had eyes I could not paint anymore. Afew months later I sat down to paint again and painted over the face in whit paint. From here I could paint again and the last thing I painted was the face and eyes.

The experience of painting this portrait was like climbing a mountain. There were times that I just didn't think I could finish it. It all seemed too hard, but I kept at it and got over the challenges and climbed the mountain.
